DIY Ideas and Appliqués

Someone had thoughtlessly dropped this GORGEOUS gown in the “nay” mess of clothes on the Anthropologie fitting room rack. Originally priced at $249, it had been marked down to $149. Without bothering to try it on, I threw it on top of my (already growing) pile of items I planned to purchase. “I can just return it later,” I justified as the employee scanned its barcode. It was $70! Marked down even further–don’t you just love when that happens? It was in the only one I had seen in the store, exactly my size, and less than a third of its original price!

I can’t wait to have a wedding or somewhere special to wear this one, but in the meantime, playing dress up on the streets of the Upper East Side is satisfying enough for me. However, I think that this beautiful dress could be easily replicated with a plain A-line of your choosing. You may miss the mesh detail, but iron ons like the ones linked HERE can easily be added to any simple dress from H&M or XX1 for a similar effect!

Sorry for my lack of presence here lately guys! I have had a crazy bunch of work related projects, trips, and my mom is in town so I have been spending every bit of free time with her! I am convinced the days feel 100x shorter in NYC; and I like it that way, but constantly playing catch up is exhausting! I can’t believe Fashion Week and fall are literally just around the corner!

Black Milk Clothing has been one of my favorite niche brands for years. Their printed lycra clothes not only hug curves in the most flattering of ways, but they feature the most fun, unique, and amazing prints and patterns I have ever seen! Their pieces can seem a little costume-y, but I love them so much that I wanted to make them wearable for every day. My Van Gogh Starry Night leggings are my all-time favorite Black Milk buy, but their pieces run in limited collections, so that you can get truly unique looks. I would suggest browsing their whole website and grabbing your new cult favorite! Happy shopping!

How To Wear White Pants in the Fall

How To Wear White Pants in the Fall

Personally, I’ve never been one to play by the rules. From the little things like not turning down that extra glass of wine, occasionally using sexual humor during inappropriate times, and generally speaking my mind when perhaps I should be more coy; to the big things like dropping out of grad school and acquiring two fur-babies before my 23rd birthday, rules have always seemed to escape me. Isn’t life more fun that way?

In regards to that old adage about “no white after Labor Day,” well I say screw that. Winter white is one of the prettiest things there is. As for pulling it off in the fall, I’m into that too. White is such a chic and sleek neutral, and wearing a wardrobe staple (like some killer white jeans) should take you year round. I paired it with some fall-inspired tans, a heavy pastel jacket and a clutch with a pop of color. Easy, sleek and October-ready! You can wear your white dresses with a long cardigan or pair these jeans with a chunky fall sweater. The only thing limiting your wardrobe options is you!

So stay up late, eat the ice cream, call him first, and wear white this fall!

NYFW in Three Floor

NYFW in Three Floor

I found this dress on ASOS maybe a year ago, and there was only one left, two sizes too big, on sale for $150. So I bought it and promised myself I would take it in to get it altered. Fast forward to last Friday when I decided to wear it to NYFW and begged the tailor to magically take in the dress in 5 days. I am so happy with the results! The dress fit like a glove, and I felt a little Hollywood glam with a modern edge the entire day. I paired the dress with my favorite Lulu*s heels (that were comfy, which is so key) and this gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff clutch courtesy of the ladies over at Bleeker & Spring. After a pit stop at the Vogue Runway Retreat to get my hair done, Anabella and I shot some quick shots in between running around like crazy to make the shows.

There are so many things that I loved from the runways, I wish I could just skip winter and head straight to spring! Once Anabella and I have a chance to review all of the runway photos we got you can check back in for a post about what will be big next season. (Hint, hint, the two-piece trend is not going anywhere.)

Now that we are on the tail-end of the week I have upped my coffee intake from non-existent to like 15 cups a day and I think my toes are going to fall off. I should really keep count of how many cabs I have taken in the past four days, but I won’t post the number here because my dad reads this and he’s going to give me a call being like “How much does that cost?!?!?” (Sorry Pops…) The week is fun and the collections are beautiful, but I am sure any blogger can tell you, this is an exhausting (amazing and unique) experience! Check back later this week for all the details later in the week…perhaps after I have taken a nap. 😉

Summer Picnics in Central Park–Blogger Style

Summer Picnics in Central Park–Blogger Style

Y’all know I love my girl Hallie from Sleepless in Sequins. We have hosted shopping parties together, attended events, and generally just hung out. She is the brightest little bubble of sunshine to hit the blogosphere since the beginning of Instagram. When she decided to throw a blogger picnic, I was more than excited to hang with some fashionable ladies on a warm August afternoon. I knew she would plan the most adorable of parties full of ladies who’s style would inspire my own. And I was right! I met the sweetest girls and caught up with some new friends too. Have you guys checked out Aishly at Stylel4b.blogspot.com, Leslie at bleekerandspring.com or Kathleen at levintagedress.com? All lovely ladies worth a visit! We were super lucky to have her hubby/photographer to take the beautiful shots you see below. Check out his work at grantfriedman.com!

I think I mentioned to you guys that I reviewed Around the World in 80 Sips last weekend in the Hamptons. I went for Joonbug, and it was a fabulous wine tasting with the best wineries from around the world. That is how I met the lovely ladies of Middle Sister wines. They offered to sponsor our picnic and provide some of the yummiest wines I have ever had! The brand is all about sisterhood and having them at our picnic was so fitting. The fun names and adorable labels were a perfect match for a stylish group of ladies. I loved their Pinot Grigio on a hot summer day! It was refreshing, smooth, light and fruity! I am not a sommelier by any means, but I love wine and this these are truly delish! Check out all the awesome varieties and learn more by following them on Facebook and Twitter!
